THE TIME
Para preguntar la hora usamos: what time is it?
También podemos usar otra expresiones más formales como:
- Could you tell me the time , please?
- have you got the time?
- do you know the time?
El día se divide en cuatro partes:
- por la mañana = in the morning
- por la tarde = in the afternoon
- por la tarde- noche = in the evening
- por la noche = at night
También se usa para indicar las horas a.m. (antes del mediodía) y p. m. (después del mediodía)
- mediodía = midday
- media noche = midnight
Some examples:
8:00 a.m. = eight o’clock in the morning.
10:30a.m.=half past ten in the morning
15:15 p.m. = quarter past three in the afternoon.
21:30 p.m. = half past nine in the evening
23:00 p.m. = eleven o’clock at night
TELLING THE TIME
En el reloj hay dos manecillas: larga y corta.
La manecilla larga indica los minutos y la corta las horas.
Siempre que la manecilla larga se mueva desde las 12:00h. hasta las 6:00h. diremos PAST.
Siempre que la manecilla larga se mueva desde las 6:00h. hasta las 12:00h. diremos TO.
Para contestar siempre decimos: It's......
Para decir a las + hora decimos: At

TELLING THE TIME
